The Tibetan Plateau is one of the areas with the strongest interactions between the atmosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere and biosphere. It is also one of the hot spots in global change research in recent decades. The Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences and domestic and foreign research institutions jointly launched the "Third Pole Environment" research plan, attracting research forces from the Third Pole region and developed countries to participate in the study of environmental changes on the Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas. Combined with the ground observation advantages of the Tibetan Plateau Research Institute, we will develop a multi-sphere interaction model system to improve the simulation capabilities of regional environmental changes and reveal the mechanisms and impacts of plateau environmental changes. Combining existing ground observation data with the center's remote sensing and data assimilation foundation, we will develop high-precision, high-spatial-temporal resolution products to serve basic research on the Tibetan Plateau.

The main research directions of our group include: developing a multi-layer model system for the Tibetan Plateau, improving the simulation capabilities of hydrothermal cycles at multi-layer interfaces, and revealing the interactions and changes of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere and biosphere of the Tibetan Plateau. , and the local and regional impacts of these changes.

Our research group focuses on the construction of a good research environment and research capabilities, including cultivating young talents, developing technical means, and improving simulation capabilities. At present, there are more than ten teachers and students. It is a young research team with independent direction, complementary advantages, unity and cooperation, and full of vitality. The research team currently has 1 researcher, 2 associate researcher, 1 assistant researchers, 1 postdoctoral fellow, 1 visiting scholar, 8 doctoral students, and 3 master students, including 3 international students and 1 scientific research assistant. So far, the research group has trained more than 20 doctoral students, master's students, and postdoctoral fellows. The research group will always take cultivating young talents as its mission, and welcomes young scholars and graduate students with both ability and political integrity to join.
